Nature Weaving
As the busy summer comes to an end, weaving can be the perfect nature-inspired activity for slowing down and focusing on fine motor skills. Weaving can serve as a metaphor for togetherness, community, and connection between all living things. What is your place in this interconnectedness?
Supplies:
Grass, feathers, fallen leaves, flowers (be sure to follow the dead, down, detached rule!)
Yarn
Small piece of cardboard
Tape
Scissors
Directions:
Make your simple cardboard loom by cutting a piece of cardboard into a rectangle roughly the size of a piece of paper. Cut ½” slits along each end, about ½” apart. Wind your yarn around the cardboard through the notches, holding it in place with tape.
Explore outside to find dead, down, and detached natural elements to weave.
Weave your natural objects over and under the yarn.
